Brenda T. Cubbage has practiced business and commercial trial work in North Texas for over 40 years. With an emphasis on construction, real estate, title insurance and business litigation, Ms. Cubbage has represented a broad range of individual and business clients, both plaintiffs and defendants, in state, federal and bankruptcy courts throughout Texas. Ms. Cubbage co-authored, "The Complete Guide to Mechanic's and Materialman's Lien Laws of Texas", from 1985 to 2006, a publication that has been cited as authority by numerous courts in Texas, including the Texas Supreme Court.Ms. Cubbage is also a certified attorney-mediator, and has successfully resolved thousands of disputes since 1990 in all areas of civil law, but particularly in real estate, construction, employment, homeowners' associations, and partnership disputes. For 2022, she was named a Best Lawyer in Dallas in the area of alternative dispute resolution by D Magazine.She has been a CLE speaker on mechanic's liens, real estate, eminent domain and construction topics. She also serves as a private arbitrator, primarily in the areas of construction and real estate disputes. Ms. Cubbage is licensed to practice law in the State of Wyoming.Previously with "big law" for decades, Ms. Cubbage has been an equity partner in the Chambers-recognized law firm of Calhoun Bhella & Sechrest LLP since 2015. With multiple offices around the country, and experienced lawyers practicing in several disciplines, Ms. Cubbage and her partners can assist clients with many kinds of litigation and transactional projects.Ms. Cubbage has served on the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas for the past 20 years, including on the Executive Committee and as Chair of the Property Committee. She is presently the Chair of the Outdoor Leadership Task Force and Property Committee for GSNETX. She is the recipient of the Honor Pin, Spirit of Excellence Award and the Thanks Award, the highest honor given to adult volunteer Girl Scouts.
