Carol J. Patterson

Carol J. Patterson is a senior partner at Zetlin & De Chiara LLP in New York, New York. Ms. Patterson concentrates her practice on construction law, serving clients in New York City and the surrounding areas. She handles complex litigation and advises clients on subjects including contracts and risk management strategies.A practicing attorney for over 35 years, Ms. Patterson has represented clients, including architects, construction managers, contractors, developers, engineers and investors. She has been involved in many significant cases, resulting in substantial settlements and claims. She also serves as general counsel to the American Society of Civil Engineers.Recognized as a leader in construction law, Ms. Patterson lectures at various educational institutions and events. She is a former fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers and past president of Commercial Real Estate Women of New York. She has been recognized by groups, including the Association of Real Estate Women, Real Estate Forum Magazine and the Women Builders Council. Additionally, the National Law Journal named her a “Real Estate/Construction Law Trailblazer.”Active in the American Bar Association, Ms. Patterson previously served on several of the association’s committees. She is a member of the New York City Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the New York Building Congress and the Urban Land Institute, as well as an affiliate member of the American Institute of Architects New York.Ms. Patterson received a bachelor’s degree from Bryn Mawr College and earned a master’s degree from Columbia University. She went on to graduate from the University of Chicago Law School. She holds licenses to practice law before all New York state courts, the U.S. district courts for the eastern and southern districts of New York and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit.
