John P. Cannon, the founder of Cannon & Associates, is a dedicated advocate for families and individual freedoms across Oklahoma. He then pursued his legal studies at Oklahoma City University School of Law, where he clerked for the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals and led the American Association of Justice Trial team as captain. His legal education was also enriched by participation in international law and trial advocacy programs in Germany. Upon obtaining his Juris Doctor in 2010, he served as an assistant district attorney in Canadian County, Oklahoma, and Garfield County, Colorado, conducting numerous trials.Mr. Cannon further expanded his skill in criminal law as an assistant public defender in Oklahoma County, where he managed a felony docket through all stages of the criminal justice system, including jury trials and appellate proceedings before the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals. Subsequently, as an assistant attorney general, he represented the State of Oklahoma in state and federal courts and argued cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit. He established his private practice, Cannon & Associates, following his service at the Office of the Attorney General.In addition to his civilian legal career, Mr. Cannon acts as a judge advocate in the Oklahoma National Guard. His military roles include defending soldiers within the military justice system, conducting court-martials at Fort Liberty and representing soldiers during active duty in Washington, D.C. His military legal responsibilities extend to advising and representing soldiers in estate planning, family law, divorce, adoption and child custody.
