Kathleen O'Prey Truman

Attorney Kathleen O'Prey Truman handles complex matters of land use and environmental law, helping clients to clear environmental review hurdles as they develop property. She deals with a variety of government agencies, helps with the permitting process, advocates in administrative hearings and defends clients in lawsuits. She represents clients in the Los Angeles area and throughout California.Over the course of her career, Ms. Truman has dealt with a number of federal agencies, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. On the state level, she has helped clients in projects involving the California Coastal Commission, the California Public Utilities Commission, the California State Lands Commission and the California Office of Historic Preservation.Ms. Truman also has extensive experience with complex environmental laws, both local and federal. These include the Clean Water Act, the National Historic Preservation Act, and state and federal Endangered Species acts. Her knowledge extends to the intricacies of the California Environmental Quality Act, the National Environmental Policy Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. She has also helped clients achieve compliance with provisions of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, often referred to as Superfund.Ms. Truman received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she graduated cum laude. She later earned a law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where she graduated magna cum laude. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association and Women Lawyers of Los Angeles.
