Of counsel to the Herzberg Law Group, Lori Barnea focuses her practice on employment law. She provides representation to employers all over the country and American offices of UK and EU employers in a variety of matters, including workplace discrimination, sexual and other forms of harassment, wrongful terminations, wage and hour claims, and related issues. Ms. Barnea advises her clients on workers' compensation and unemployment insurance claims, background check laws, employment agreements, employee misclassification issues, termination offers, and employee disciplinary problems. She also regularly provides compliance training for her clients.Ms. Barnea has extensive experience with a variety of state and federal statutes that impact her practice. These include the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the New York Human Rights Law, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act of 1988, and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. Ms. Barnea reviews her client's practices, employee manuals and personnel files to ensure compliance with these laws.As an undergraduate, Ms. Barnea attended Yeshiva University, graduating in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science cum laude. Remaining at Yeshiva, she pursued her legal education at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and was awarded her Juris Doctor in 2005. After graduation, Ms. Barnea spent more than 10 years with a highly regarded New York City firm before joining the Herzberg Law Group in September 2017. She is admitted to practice before all New York and New Jersey state courts, and she stays abreast of current developments in her practice area through her membership in the New York State Bar Association.
