Markus Willoughby

A medical malpractice attorney for 27 years and founding partner with Willoughby Law Firm, Markus Willoughby represents clients in all of California. Fluent in English and Spanish, he has an Avvo “Superb” rating, was named by California Lawyer magazine as the California Lawyer Attorney of the Year for Medical Malpractice and is a member of The National Trial Lawyers: Top 100. The San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association gave him the Civil Justice Award in 2014, and he was nominated for the Trial Lawyer of the Year by the organization two years in a row.Mr. Willoughby is admitted to practice in the states of California and Ohio. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and the United States District Court for the Northern District of California and the United States Supreme Court. A former treasurer of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, he was the 2020 president of the association and an arbitrator for the Ohio Courts of Common Pleas.In 1992, Mr. Willoughby graduated from California State University with high honors and an undergraduate degree in philosophy. He then attended Case Western Reserve University Law School, where he was given the Governor’s Commendation and the Nathan Burkan Award while he earned his Juris Doctor.
