Richard R. Orsinger

Sometimes called "the lawyer's lawyer," Richard Orsinger is one of the highest-rated attorneys in Texas, offering a dual board certification by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in both Family Law and Civil Appellate Law. Orsinger earned a spot onSuper Lawyers"Top 10 Lawyers in Texas" list in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, & 2014, and was the third-highest vote-getter in the 2010Texas Super Lawyerssurvey. He was also named the "Top Family Lawyer in Texas" in the 2007 Go-To Guide published byTexas Lawyernewspaper. In addition to representing his own clients, Orsinger often assists attorneys from other firms in complex jury and non-jury cases, particularly those involving separate property claims or business valuation, and cases in which financial or mental health experts will play a prominent role, or where it is expected that there will be an appeal. Orsinger lectures frequently to lawyers and judges, and has published over 250 continuing legal education articles, as well as law review articles and books on appellate procedure and evidence law. Orsinger won an award in 2014 from the Texas Center for the Judiciary for exemplary contributions to judicial education and in 2009 & 2013 he received the College of the State Bar of Texas' award for the best CLE article of the year. Orsinger has served on the Texas Supreme Court's Advisory Committee on Rules of Procedure, Evidence and Judicial Administration for 22 years. Orsinger is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, based on the large number of jury trials he has tried. In 2014, Orsinger received the Texas Bar Foundation's prestigious Dan Rugely Price Award for exemplifying "the qualities of an accomplished legal writer and researcher, a talented and dedicated practicing lawyer, a servant of the profession as a volunteer and an advocate on its behalf." This last award was especially meaningful to Richard, since Dan Price was a close friend of his who died at too young an age. Richard handles cases all over Texas, and appears in all Texas appellate courts.
