Robert J. Sherwin

A partner at Lewis, Marenstein, Wicke, Sherwin & Lee, LLP, Robert W. Sherwin focuses his practice primarily on workers' compensation matters, and he has been certified as a specialist in workers' compensation law by the Board of Legal Specialization of The State Bar of California. In this regard, he assists people who have been injured on the job and who are seeking their rightful benefits under their employer's insurance coverage. In particular, Mr. Sherwin provides representation to members of the Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles Fire Department and other public sector employees, although he also assists people who work for private companies as well.The types of assistance Mr. Sherwin furnishes include helping with the preparation of the claim and ensuring that it contains all necessary documentation and that it is filed on a timely basis. He also provides advocacy at subsequent hearings in the event that a claim is disputed or denied, and he frequently appears before administrative law judges of the Division of Workers' Compensation as well as before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board. Mr. Sherwin also has experience in general personal injury and wrongful death litigation, representing people who have been harmed by the negligence of other parties in cases arising out of motor vehicle accidents, premises liability and defective products.Mr. Sherwin is a 1970 Bachelor of Arts recipient from California State University, Northridge. He obtained his legal education at Loyola Law School and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1974. After graduation, Mr. Sherwin served 10 years as an attorney with the Los Angeles city attorney's office, part of which was spent defending workers' compensation claims. He is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern and Southern Districts of California.
