Sabastian Piedmont

A former teacher, Sabastian Piedmont currently serves as a managing attorney at The Colwell Law Group, LLC. He represents the residents of Albany, New York, in legal matters pertaining to family and matrimonial law. More specifically, he deals with cases of divorce litigation, spousal maintenance, adoptions, contested custody disputes and child support matters. He was admitted to practice law in New York in 2020.Mr. Piedmont received his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from State University of New York (SUNY) Brockport in 2016. Owing to his notable contributions toward his community and professional field, he was the 2023 recipient of the university’s “10 Under 10 Award – Recognizing 10 GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade).” He further went on to pursue his interest in law by earning his Juris Doctor in 2019 from the Syracuse University College of Law with a certificate of advanced study in national security and Counterterrorism law. While at law school, he was a legal intern at district attorney Joseph V. Cardone’s office and county attorney Tina Wayland-Smith’s office, and was also awarded the Leadership Award.With extensive experience in consulting and advising individuals about New York State employment and municipal laws, federal labor, New York State education law and environmental law, Mr. Piedmont has also represented clients’ complaints before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Merit Systems Protection Board and the New York State Division of Human Rights. His diverse legal background, client-centric approach and unique perspective and experiences differentiate him from other attorneys in the field.Mr. Piedmont is the founding member and the president of the Mental Wellness Society, an organization that arranges multiple events and 5k races to advocate and destigmatize mental illness and substance abuse disorders in the legal profession. He is also an affiliate member of the Onondaga County Bar Association.
