He then moved to Africa and counseled a foreign aid program sponsored by the United Nations, among others. Following that, he returned to the United States with his future wife, who is a native of Austin. Settling into the area, Mr. Thompson worked as an assistant district attorney with the district attorney’s office in San Marcos before re-entering private practice.
