Steven T. Lowe is the founder and Managing Partner of Lowe & Associates, a boutique civil litigation and entertainment law firm located in Beverly Hills, California. Founded in 1991, the firm has successfully resolved many important cases in the areas of copyright, trademark, defamation, business, and entertainment law. The firm is best known for championing the rights of creators in the entertainment industry. Mr. Lowe is the co- founder and current president of the artist rights /advocacy group known as the National Society of Entertainment and Art Lawyers (“NSEAL”) formerly known as the California Society of Entertainment Lawyers (“CSEL”). He has also authored multiple important articles on copyright law, including “Death of Copyright” (2010) (which was required reading at top law schools such as UCLA) and “Death of Copyright 3: The Awakening” (2018).Mr. Lowe has recently chaired and moderated multiple continuing legal education events including “Termination Rights Under Copyright Law: Reclaiming Works for Authors” in November 2021, “Lights, Camera, Libel: Current Trends in the Law of Defamation and Invasion of Privacy” in November 2022 and for the Beverly Hills Bar Association, “Andy Warhol meets Jack Daniels: What Supreme Court Decisions from 2023 Portend for the Coming Term” in September 2023. He also served as one of multiple distinguished panelists on “Trends in Substantial Similarity in the 9thand 2ndCircuit” for The Copyright Society in February 2023. Mr. Lowe has authored many published articles including “Rights & Remedies for Copyright Co-Owners” May 2020, “Death of Copyright 3: The Awakening” Summer 2018, and “Drafting Tips for Transactional Attorneys,” March 2010.In 2022, under Mr. Lowe’s direction, CSEL filed amicus briefs in favor of the appellant in two important cases; both courts reversed the lower court and ruled in favor of the creator/appellant.
