Sylvia Goldschmidt is a founding member of Goldschmidt & Genovese LLP, a boutique matrimonial and family law firm based in White Plains, New York, with an office in New York City as well. She focuses her practice on matrimonial and family law, and able to apply her extensive experience in traditional representation, collaborative law and mediation to assist clients in Westchester, New York, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess and Orange Counties with complex and difficult issues, including property division, child and spousal support and custody, that often accompany divorce or the breakdown in interpersonal relationships. In her practice, Ms. Goldschmidt always strives to treat her clients with compassion while vigilantly protecting their rights. In 1981, Ms. Goldschmidt obtained her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. A year later, she earned an LL.M. in Taxation from the New York University School of Law. She was admitted to practice in New York in 1983.Ms. Goldschmidt remains abreast of the latest developments in the fields of family and matrimonial law as a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), having served as president of the organization's New York Chapter. She is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL), having been a past president of its United States Chapter; member of the Executive Committees of the Family Law Sections of the NYS Bar Assoc. and Westchester County Bar Assoc.; and Board member of the AFCC-New York. Ms. Goldschmidt sat on the Advisory Committee for Honoring Families Initiative of IAALS. Among other leadership positions, she has served as co-chair of the Westchester Women's Bar Association's Matrimonial Committee and that of the Women's Bar of the State of New York.Sharing her knowledge and experience with other attorneys through writing and teaching is another important part of Ms. Goldschmidt's professional life. She has given lectures and written articles for the NYS Bar Association, AFCC, AAML, IAFL Westchester County Bar Association, Pace University School of Law as a guest lecturer, among others.
