Verdicts / Settlements:

Walker has been very fortunate in having an extremely diverse trial practice and equally fortunate in achieving substantial success with each of the diverse matters he has handled during his career. Of particular significance has been his success with condemnation cases. Walker has successfully tried to a jury verdict and/or has reached settlements in highway expansion cases involving Interstate 10 (Katy Freeway), US 59 (Southwest Freeway and Eastex Freeway), Highway 290 (Northwest Freeway), Interstate 45 (Gulf Freeway and North Freeway), Highway 99 (Grand Parkway), Highway 6, Highway 249 (Tomball Parkway), Highway 105, Beltway 8 (Sam Houston Toll Road), Fort Bend Parkway, Westpark Toll Road, Interstate 610 (the Loop), Hardy Toll Road, Highway 75 (Central Expressway), Interstate 35 E (Stemmons Freeway), Interstate 635 (LBJ Freeway), Interstate 35 W (North Freeway), Highway 183, and Highway 71. Walker's condemnation representations have included all types and uses of property including office buildings, shopping centers, restaurants, car dealerships, hotels, single tenant retail, pad sites, lumber yards, car washes, oil and gas wells, salt dome storage facilities, churches, apartments, mobile home parks, residential subdivisions, regional malls, banks, commercial storage facilities, commercial parking lots, schools, park land, golf courses, farms, vacant land, leasehold estates, pipeline corridors, industrial, and single family residential properties. The trial of more than thirty of these condemnation cases resulted in Walker recovering between $1,000,000 and $10,000,000 more for his clients than the condemning authority had offered prior to litigation. Walker has also settled prior to trial more than seventy-five condemnation cases in which his clients have recovered between $500,000 and $15,000,000 more than the condemning authority had offered prior to litigation beginning. Although most of Walker's condemnation practice has been devoted to representing property owners, he has represented a select few condemning authorities. For example, Walker successfully represented the Fort Worth Sports Authority in acquiring the numerous properties necessary to construct the Texas Motor Speedway Project in north Texas for the benefit of all of you who may be NASCAR fans.
