Verdicts/Settlements (Case Results):

Millis v Ameritas, N.D. Illinois. Won a lawsuit on behalf of a liver transplant surgeon who was denied total disability benefits by his disability insuarnce company. The insurance company argued that becuase our client could still perform other kinds of surgeries, he was not totally disabled from being a liver transplant surgeon. The Court disagreed finding that if he cannot perform the material and substantial duties of a liver transplant surgeon then he is totally disabled from his own occupation. , 2022
Won Gimeno v NCHMD, a life insurance case addressing ERISA plan beneficiaries' right to equitable relief. , 2022
Kaviani v. Reliance Standard, Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. After winning the case at the district court level, the insurance company appealed. Our law firm handled the appeal and won, making this our second court of appeals win in the last few years. Our client is a dentist who had to stop working because of chronic pain in his neck as well as weakness and numbness in his arm and hands. The Court disagreed with the insurance company that our client did not provide sufficient proof of his disability and criticized the manner in which his claim was handled., 2020
Won Kaviani v. Reliance Standard Insurance Company, a disability insurance lawsuit Eddie and the firm won for a dentist who was denied long term disability benefits, 2019
Won Ashmore v. NFL Disbaility Plan, a long-term disbaility case victory for a former NFL football player who was denied disability benefits, 2018
Won Bradshaw v. Reliance Standard Life Insurance Company, 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. This was a long-term disability insurance case, 2017

Educational Background:

Mr. Dabdoub graduated cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law. During his last semester in law school, he was authorized by the Florida Supreme Court to practice law as a Certified Legal Intern and vigorously defended the rights of indigent defendants at the Miami-Dade Public Defender's Office. Prior to law school, Mr. Dabdoub earned a Masters in Business Administration, with a concentration in International Business, from Florida International University, where he graduated at the top of his class. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Miami.

Mr. Dabdoub has participated as a guest speaker at local and national conferences and seminars for the American Association for Justice (formerly, the Trial Lawyers of America) on ERISA and disability benefits. He has also authored articles on the subject, such as An Introduction to ERISA LTD Benefits for the Social Security Practitioner for presentation at the AAJ's Social Security Success Seminar and, more recently, he has authored an article on how to successfully practice in the area of ERISA disability, titled Effectively Handling ERISA Disability Benefits Claims & Litigation., American Association For Justice
