Fernanda C. Bustamante

Partner at Fuerza Immigration Lawyers, Fernanda C. Bustamante represents clients in Oakland, California, in matters of immigration law. Fluent in Spanish and English, her caseload includes matters of asylum, criminal and immigration matters, U visas and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), special needs families, deportation defense, green cards and family immigration.A native of Peru, Ms. Bustamante spent many years volunteering as an interpreter for those who were fleeing civil unrest and domestic violence in Central America as they applied for asylum. After earning an undergraduate degree, she attended the University of San Francisco School of Law, from which she graduated cum laude with her Juris Doctor degree. While in law school, she worked with the school’s Hastings Center for Gender and Refugee Studies to discover more about Guatemala and the country’s gender-based violence.Ms. Bustamante is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and The State Bar of California. She gives back to her community through her work with the East Bay Sanctuary Covenant and the Centro Legal de la Raza. At both organizations, she has provided legal counsel and advice to thousands who did not have the funds to pay for legal representation.Working for the most disadvantaged clients, Ms. Bustamante does all she can to help them achieve legal immigration status. Her desire to help others shows in her passion for taking cases where life-threatening crimes or domestic violence have occurred.
