Plaintiff, a young adult, was standing near a bus shelter when a drunk driver struck him causing severe injuries that required inpatient care for months. Case settled for $2,250,000., 2023
Victim was visiting a chain restaurant in Cleveland when he got into a verbal altercation with a third-party security guard. The security guard then shot and killed the victim. Case settled for $1,000,000., 2023
Plaintiff was dropping excess refuse at a service center when he was struck by a front end loader operated by City personnel. Case settled for $3,000,000., 2022
Plaintiff, a construction worker, was electrocuted and killed when another contractor operated heavy machinery within an unsafe distance of an overhead primary power line causing an electrical arcing event of upwards of 13,200 volts. Plaintiff suffered briefly before being pronounced deceased. He was survived by multiple children. Case settled for $7.35 million. , 2022
Plaintiff was operating a motorcycle in Southern Ohio when he was struck by a commercial vehicle. Case settled for $10 million. , 2022
On May 25, 2019, a thunderstorm came through Marietta, Ohio and as a result of the high winds from the storm, a tree limb fell onto AEP’s service drop feeding from the pole to Elsa Thompson’s home. At approximately 1:50 p.m., a neighbor called AEP to report the downed power line. Just before 5:00 p.m., Elsa Thompson called AEP to report the downed power line, and was told someone should be at her home by 6:00 p.m. She called AEP again at approximately 8:00 p.m. and was told that she could go to sleep and that everything would be fixedby morning. After Elsa went to bed, the aluminum neutral suffered a mechanical break from the weight of the tree limb andcaused an imbalance of voltage traveling to the home causing a fire in a relocatable power tap (power strip) in her family room.The fire reached temperatures upwards of 2000 degrees and spread quickly. The fire caused Plaintiff's decedent to inhale the products of combustion and she died after suffering 3-5 minutes of conscious pain and suffering. Her body was found in between her bedroom doorway and the hallway. Plaintiff did not seek any economic damages, solely noneconomic wrongful death and survival damages. Case settled for $6 million. , 2022
Plaintiff, a passenger on a motorcycle, was struck by a passenger vehicle turning left into the driveway of a members only club. The vehicle turned directly into the path of the motorcycle, failing to yield, and causing the passenger to be thrown from the motorcycle. Case settled for $1.4 million. , 2022
Ready Mix concrete truck was traveling on a graded roadway and rolled while making a right turn directly on top of a passenger motor vehicle. Plaintiff traveling in the passenger vehicle was killed instantaneously. Case settled for $2,350,000., 2021
Plaintiff, a 40-year old father of 3, was working at an industrial site in Southeast Ohio when he was struck by a forklift operated by a subcontractor at the worksite, pinning his leg against a steel barrier and causing crush injuries to his lower extremity. Liability was contested. Case settled for $3,700,000., 2021
While working as a truck driver, Plaintiff ’s electronic cigarette (e-cig) exploded while in his breast pocket. The lithium ion battery (LIB) inside the e-cig box module (mod) was improperly identified as having a current rating higher than its actual capacity causing the explosion. Case settled for $510,000.00., 2021
Plaintiff, a 7-year old girl, was killed when an SUV struck the rear of the vehicle she was traveling in. Case settled for $2,750,000., 2021
Plaintiff was on the premises of an auction house when an exterior light fixture fell and struck him on the head causing head and neck injuries, including a skull fracture and a posterior cervical spine decompression with resulting fusion. The case was brought under a theory of res ipsa loquitur. Plaintiff was a single, retired man, age 65. Case settled for $1,075,000., 2020
Plaintiff, a 59-year old male from Medina County, was walking across the street with his best friend on the west side of Cleveland when he was hit by a car that fled the scene. Tried as an uninsured motorists case. Jury verdict for $430,000.00., 2019
Plaintiff was operating a sedan on the turnpike when he was struck by a pickup truck, causing him to spin out of control in front of a semi-tractor. Case settled for $875,000.00., 2019
Intermodal semi tractor trailer collision with the front of a passenger bus. Plaintiff incurred approximately $60,000 in medical bills following the crash. Case settled for $250,000.00., 2019
Plaintiff was riding his motorcycle to work when a human transport van missed a turn after traveling over the crest of a hill and decided to travel in reverse on a two-lane undivided roadway causing a severe collision with Plaintiff’s motorcycle. Liability was contested. Case settled for $1,425,000., 2018
Plaintiff was traveling home in a small passenger vehicle when an out-of-state commercial truck driver attempted to merge while Plaintiff was traveling in his blind spot causing her vehicle to spin and strike a concrete median. Defendant truck driver blamed the Plaintiff for not seeing that his truck was moving into her lane. The truck company failed to have proper training mechanisms in place to educate its drivers on safe driving practices. Case settled for $212,500.00., 2018
