McGuire has received a number of awards and recognition in the media. She has given presentations on a variety of family law topics at numerous conferences and seminars. She was appointed to the New York Matrimonial Law Commission, which submitted a report recommending changes to state law in 2006. In 2011, she was asked to sit on a task force for Suffolk County to review court policies and recommend changes. She currently serves on the New York Judicial Screening Committee, which reviews potential candidates for judicial office.
