Over the past seven years, his law practice has received high profile coverage in the Austin media through his representation of the suburban group, Homeowners United for Rate Fairness, in its appeal of the Austin Energy rate increase to the Texas Public Utility Commission, which cost the City of Austin $1.6 million to defend and resulted in an unprecedented discount for his suburban clients.

Mr. Borgelt currently serves on the Governance Committee of the Austin Symphony Orchestra Society. He is active in the Christian Legal Society, in addition to numerous current leadership positions and interests in the Austin community, including: President, Austinites for Action; Chair, Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse of Central Texas; past Vice Chair, Travis County Republican Party; Member, Austin Chamber of Commerce: Opportunity Austin; Member, Greater Austin Crime Commission, UT Chancellor's Council and The University of Texas Longhorn Foundation; and Member, Real Estate Council of Austin, where he serves on key advocacy committees. He has also served on the City of Austin’s Land Development Code Advisory Committee, and on its Charter Review Commission.

Educational Background:

Mr. Borgelt attended the Univerity of Texas as a National Merit Scholar. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology before graduating from The University of Texas School of Law in 1988.
